HBO Confirms THE IDOL Series Will Not Continue Season 2

THE IDOL will officially not continue its journey in season 2. This was confirmed directly by a spokesperson from HBO.

Reported by Entertainment Weekly, "THE IDOL is one of HBO's most provocative original programs, and we are pleased with the strong audience response. After much thought and consideration, HBO and the creators and producers have decided not to proceed with a second season. We thank creators, cast and crew for their incredible work."

1. THE IDOL Received Many Bad Reviews

THE IDOL series stars many of the world's top artists. Among them is Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of actor Johnny Depp, who plays Jocelyn. Abel Asfaye, or commonly known by his stage name The Weeknd, plays a character named Tedros. And Jennie Ruby Jane, member of the Korean girl group Blackpink, where she plays Dyanne.

Directed by Sam Levinson, known for his work EUPHORIA, this series starring The Weeknd received a fairly low rating score from the audience. On Rotten Tomatoes THE IDOL only got a score of 25%, while on IMDb, it got a rating of 4.8/10.

2. Many Controversial Indecent Scenes

The Idol tells the journey of a pop singer named Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp). She then becomes involved in a romantic relationship with Tedros (Abel Tesfaye/The Weeknd), a modern cult leader who is full of mystery.

During its broadcast, this series attracted a lot of controversy. The reason is that there are many adult scenes that are excessive and deemed inappropriate and do not support the storyline that is being conveyed. Many netizens commented on how obscene and disgusting these scenes were.
